Overview

This so called Englishman's Beach is a town situated on the Gran Canaria Island. This town has a population of over seventeen thousand inhabitants and got its name from the majority of tourists that come from England. The main characteristics of the town are long beaches with shiny golden sand, perfect climate, gardens with rare plants and lots of paths for visitors to enjoy walking along the beach. Playa del Ingles is a half an hour drive from the airport in Las Palmas.

Activities

Playa del Ingles offers the visitors a lot of entertainment such as water sports and leisure activities. Many of you tried to ride a horse but what about riding a camel? This is the ideal opportunity to make a trip around the town on a higher level than on a horse's back. A camel can take two passengers and the trip lasts more than one hour. If you do not trust these animals and like to travel on wheels, try touring around the city by driving a jeep. This is an ideal activity in any part of the year. In spring and summer you can drive along the seaside and in autumn and winter you can explore the nearby mountains. You have still not had enough of traveling? Well, after riding a camel or a jeep, get on board and do some boat cruising. It is up to the visitors to decide whether to go on a trip on a big yacht or a small boat for several people and a crew only. On the open sea, visitors can take pictures of curious dolphins that approach the boats, swim or do some jet skiing. Because of the variety of fish, fishing is also popular among locals and tourists. For the visitors who like to spend their time on solid ground, golf is a perfect thing to do. Playa del Ingles has a lot of small shops as well as big shopping malls. If you are a shopaholic, you will have plenty of work to do. If we mention that many of the shops are duty free...

Nightlife

At the end of your daily activities, visit some of the numerous restaurants and bars to refresh yourself and gain strength for dancing all night long by eating some of the tasty food. Restaurants offer domestic meals, fast food and foreign meals, mostly from Italian and Chinese cuisine.

Playa del Ingles also has many night clubs and bars with bands playing live. Majority of them are situated in the Kasbah center. This is a place where you can dance all night long and enjoy different styles of music. Apart from the Kasbah, the English center is also popular as it is a Yumbo center visited mostly by the gay population.
